My most important wartime experience
On 22 June 1941, the Soviets advanced on the Germans. On 27 June, the Germans shot down a Russian plane, caught the Soviet airmen and took them prisoner. An hour later Russian planes came and shot down a German plane. One day my friend and I went to the meadow to see what a crashed plane looked like. We were looking at it when [suddenly] a German plane came, noticed [us] and started shooting.
At 10.00 a.m. after lunch planes started to fight above Wisznice. A Russian plane fell down on a farm and both the house and the barns burned down.
In June 1944 the war [between the Soviets] and the Germans started, and the latter suffered many losses.
