My wartime experiences
(In 1944, the war broke out.)
In 1939, the Germans invaded Poland, and they stayed here for a long time. Then, when the Germans started murdering so many Poles and Soviets, all the Soviets armed themselves and drove them away from Poland and Russia. The war started in 1944. When the Germans were leaving, they burned houses down and fired their guns. The Germans left on 24 July 1944 and the Soviets came on 25 July 1944. That war lasted three days. During the war people were in the forest, because there was a terrible battle in Wisznice and I was also in the forest. That war was very troubling for people, but luckily we managed to survive it somehow. When the Germans were gone, partisans started roaming the forests. The Germans thought they would take over Poland, but they failed. [For] me, the war was very horrible.
