My wartime experience
On Saturday, 21 July 1944, the front moved through our village. German cannons were set up behind our neighbor’s orchard. In the morning, cars were moving down the Radzyń road. The Soviet troops were stationed in Horodyszcze. In our yard there was a German convoy. In Horodyszcze, the Soviets fired their cannons. My brother and I were sitting in the trench. A car with weapons and ammunition came into our yard. The road was mined. On Monday morning, there were no more Germans. In Wisznice, a white and red flag was flown from the school building.
