Pachole, Włodawa district
My memory of the German occupation
It happened in 1942 in Zaliszcze, in Włodawa district. The Germans came and surrounded the village. Then they started rounding people up and taking them to their cars, while other people started running away to Zadębie. Some cried, because they did not want to leave their homes and go to the cars. When the Germans took the men, the women cried, but this did nothing and they took them to Biała. In a few weeks’ time, they ordered people to come to watch how they were going to kill the men they took from Zaliszcze.
