Dear Sir!
In connection with your announcement, which was broadcast over Polish Television on 14 August 1989, I would like to send you some information and photocopies of documents concerning the detention of my husband in the camp of Ostashkov in the USSR.
My husband, Bolesław Stanisław Stasiecki, son of Teodor and Teofila née Rychter, born on 29 March 1893 w Feliksówka (commune of Węgleszyn, district of Jędrzejów, Kielce Voivodeship), was a Senior Sergeant of the State Police and held the position of Commandant of the State Police Station in Izbica on the River Wieprz. While there, on 12 September 1939, he was called up and ordered to proceed (armed and in full uniform) to Eastern Poland, where he was taken prisoner by the Soviets. In 1949, I received a postcard which he had written in the camp in Ostashkov (according to the stamp, it had been sent on 31 December 1939). As proof I hereby attach a photocopy of this correspondence, which has survived to date. This was the first and at the same time only communication that I received from my husband.
Several times I asked the Polish Red Cross to help determine what had happened with him, however they always replied that they had no information on the matter.
I have attached photocopies of the following documents:
1. the postcard sent from the camp in Ostashkov,
2. his Army Card,
3. extracts of his military service book,
4. three photographs.

I would like you to know that on 29 November 1939 I wrote you a letter which I sent to the address of Mr Bazylko. In it I informed you that I was in good health and that I was in Russia. But I did not receive any reply from you. Please write me back, tell me how are things going on and whether you are alright. I send you my warmest greetings [and best wishes] for the New Year. My compliments and greetings for everyone [illegible]. I send you my love and kisses, please write [?].
