[2.] Circumstances of arrest:
I was arrested by the Soviet border guard when crossing the Hungarian border, close to Ławoczne [today in Ukraine].
[3.] Methods of examining and torturing the arrested during interrogation:
In Skole [today in Ukraine], in the Groedel palace, and in Kharkov, they forced me to testify by beating [me] and offering me cooperation with the NKVD, and the same [went] for other prisoners.
[4.] Judicial proceedings, in absentia sentences, and method of pronouncing sentences (the texts of the judgments are very desirable):
We all received in absentia sentences, but in many cases verdicts were pronounced in paragraphs. The text of my judgment was: For attempting to cross the border and acting against the Soviet Union: eight years.
[5.] Facts concerning murders during marches, transports, labor, in prisons, etc.:
During the transport on barges on the Yenisei River from Krasnoyarsk to Dudinka, about 50 people died (the total number of [people] transported was 1,700) of dysentery and exhaustion. I do not remember names. During labor in Norilsk, ill people were taken to an unknown place, but I received no news from them.
[7.] Life in the labor camps (organization of the camps, working quotas):
In the labor camp we lived in damp, bug-ridden barracks, without light, bedding, or special clothes. Murderous quotas and hunger [dominated]. Those who could not work were beaten and starved.
[8.] Life in prisons:
I spent about a year in prison in Kharkov and in Chłodna Góra. In rooms [intended] for 20 people, 100 or more were kept imprisoned. We used the bathhouse once every two months. Hunger and lice caused the spread of diseases. Ill people were taken away. We never received any information from them.
