On 20 September 1947 in Lublin, A. Sadowski, Investigative Judge of the Fourth Branch of the District Court in Lublin, interviewed the person specified below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations, the witness testified as follows:
Name and surname | Władysław Skowronek |
Age | 39 |
Parents’ names | Antoni and Marianna |
Place of residence | Dziesiąta |
Occupation | farmer |
Criminal record | none |
Relationship to the parties | none |
I worked at the Majdanek camp for a few years as a carter, since as a person residing near Dziesiąta I was obliged, forced to transport corpses or alternatively various building materials. Under these circumstances, I used to see Muhsfeldt, the head of the crematorium. He was a cruel criminal, who murdered people without scruple. I personally saw him kill people with a wooden hammer and a pistol shot. He took revenge on the prisoners in a cruel way, hitting them and often kicking them all over the body.
Muhsfeldt was friends with Thumann, the camp commandant, who gave orders to murder people. Both would celebrate after they had contrived to murder a significant number of people on a given day. Thumann was a man of average height, a handsome brown-haired man of around 32 years of age. Muhsfeldt was stout and I could recognize him any time. I saw Thumann unleash dogs on prisoners, which tore them to pieces. I recognize Muhsfeldt in the photograph presented to me.
The report was read out.
