JANKIEL NAJBRYF

Munich, 23 August 1946

I, Jankiel Najbryf, born on 28 December 1922 in Prużana, unmarried, a baker by profession, staying in Feldafing, a camp of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, testify under oath as follows:

I was a prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp from 30 January 1943 to 18 January 1945, and I know Franz Achter as one of the most dangerous kapos in the camp. I worked in his unit (the Huta company) for five months. He would brutally beat the prisoners for any misdemeanor. He would beat them with a shovel or a stick until they lost consciousness. Every day, several new men were assigned to work in his kommando, because others had been so brutally abused that they could not work anymore.

I saw Achter beat one man so brutally that he died on the way back to the camp. He also beat me very often.
