Munich, 23 August 1946
I, Jakub Goldberg, born on 15 March 1921 in Prużana, a locksmith by profession, married, residing in Feldafing, a camp of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, hereby testify under oath as follows:
I was a prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp from the beginning of 1943, and I know Franz Achter as a kapo. He was one of the most cruel and dangerous kapos in the camp. My brother worked in his unit, the division of the Huta company. He was cruelly abused by Achter, as a result of which he was taken to the hospital. Two days later, he died of the injuries received. I was placed in Achter’s block and I often saw him beat prisoners for minor transgressions. Personally, I was also beaten multiple times.
