On 21 November 1947 the Municipal Court in Iłża, with Judge M. Pytlewski presiding, heard the person named below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the provisions of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the witness testified as follows:

On 14 August 1944, German troops surrounded the village of Podsuliszka. All the men and some women were taken to the Modrzejowice estate. These included my husband, Władysław Janek, and my son Józef. On the next day, i.e. 15 August 1944, my son returned home, while my husband Władysław was killed on the morning of 15 August 1944 in the Pakosław Forest.
I didn’t witness the execution, but six days later I uncovered the body of my husband and buried him in the Roman Catholic cemetery in Alojzów. All the murdered people were buried in one pit, and there were about seven of them. These people were shot in the Pakosław Forest – there were traces of blood on the trees and pieces of brains on the ground.
It was upon information received from Bronisław Kopania, a permanent resident of Podsuliszki – to the effect that there were partisans in Podsuliszki – that the Germans came to the village and conducted the execution. Some German soldiers told me that the arrest and execution were brought about by Kopania, who gave them a list of people who allegedly were members of the resistance. I don’t know where Kopania is now. On 14 August 1944 I saw Kopania in the courtyard of the Modrzejowice estate – he was there with the Germans, and apparently on good terms with them.
