I was detained in the camp in Pionki near Radom from November 1942 to June 1944. SS- und Polizeiführer [SS and police leader] Böttcher very often visited the camp. He was the head of the whole district of Radom. Every time he had a gallows set up and then, after roll-call, he picked every tenth person and ordered their hanging. He would be present during the execution, explaining to the executioner how to put on a noose etc. This is how my colleague Uszer Birnbaum and my relative Szmul Rubinstein were hanged. Böttcher’s “inspections” occurred every two weeks.
I declare, in lieu of an oath, that the above is true to facts. I am aware of the criminal liability for making false declarations. I am ready to appear before a court as a witness.
