In May 1943, the Germans brought 20 hostages to Nowa Wieś, and hanged 10 of them by the forester’s lodge; the rest of the hostages had to dig pits and fasten nooses around the necks of the condemned persons. The Germans herded a lot of people from the village and surrounding areas to witness this sad event, and they had to be present on pain of death. I watched the hostages closely, but I didn’t know any of them; in all probability they had been brought from Lublin. When the sentence was carried out and the hanged people were declared dead by a doctor, the Germans took the dead and the living hostages and left in the direction of Kamyk. At this I conclude my testimony.
