In 1944, an inhabitant of our village, Stanisław Comber, was going to work at his field. A unit of gendarmes from Staszów was passing nearby; for no reason whatsoever, the gendarmes fired a few shots at Comber. Having been hit, a dozen or so hours later the man died.
Also in 1944 the gendarmes from Staszów, together with lieutenant Haff, brought to Staszów nine farmers from Zrębin, a neighboring village. They informed the villagers that they would release these people for two quintals of butter. The village was not able to obtain so much butter from its cows, so the people bought the missing amount and handed the butter over to the Germans. Then the arrested farmers were released.
I know nothing else. I don’t know any other surnames of German criminals. The report was read out.
