They were deported to POW camps in Germany.

People were so starved that they would fight for raw potatoes delivered to the camp kitchen by the Polish Red Cross posts. The camp command did not feed the prisoners. The prisoners were fed solely by the local community through the Polish Red Cross.

There was an insufficient infirmary.

Dysentery. The sick were sent to the Polish Red Cross hospital in Kielce, where approximately 40 people died per day. Sanitary conditions were extremely poor. Some prisoners slept on dung in the stables and some in the open air, regardless of weather.
