My most memorable moment from the occupation

That moment, which I experienced during the German occupation, was the hardest for me, and I remember it very clearly. A roundup was taking place. It was Thursday when the Germans surrounded our village and started taking the men away. Nobody knew why and where they were taking them. The Germans said that the men would dig trenches. They took my dad too and led him to a school. There was crying and wailing in our house. I begged them to leave daddy alone, but their hearts were stone-cold. Later the Germans took all the men to Iłża, and from there to Germany. I will remember this moment for a long time. It was very hard for me because there was nobody left who could work. I was sad and cried a lot while waiting for my dad to return.
